Pipe material tells you what the system is made from; CCTV shows the visible condition inside it. A repair assessment also needs the affected length, connections and available access.
CCTV survey: recording, defect description and measured distance from the access point.
Pipe: material, diameter, shape and any recorded change of size.
Connections: branch positions, bends and the length of the affected section.
Access: chamber locations, pipe route and restrictions around buildings or occupied areas.

Leakage at a branch or junction may need a local repair. The junction geometry and the condition of the adjoining pipework are part of that assessment.
Root intrusion can obstruct a drain, but clearing the roots and repairing the entry point are separate issues. The surrounding pipe still needs to be assessed.
