Purpose and scope
This library explains common drain materials, components and defects, and the points that can affect inspection and repair. It is general technical information, not a site-specific structural assessment, a repair design or instructions for hazardous work.
How the information is prepared
AI tools are used for drafting, editing and consistency checks. Before publication, entries are checked against the linked regulator, technical and manufacturer references, with automated checks for identifiers, page structure and links. This process does not amount to independent sign-off by an engineer or other named technical specialist.
We do not add invented qualifications, site visits, case studies, test results, equipment ownership or technical-review endorsements. A technical contributor is credited only after their identity, relevant expertise and review of the entry have been established.
Sources and technical limits
Where a source or review date is shown, it records when the linked information was checked; it does not mean every cited document was issued on that date. Manufacturer references apply to the named product or system, not every installation. Regulatory references apply only within their stated jurisdiction.
Pipe material, product name and nominal dimensions are only part of a repair assessment. CCTV findings, pipe geometry, connections, access, operating conditions and host-pipe condition can affect whether a repair method is suitable. A product or process reference is not evidence that it is suitable for a particular drain.
Published technical content
Detailed entries are used where the subject can be supported by relevant sources and the technical limits can be stated clearly. Short reference entries explain individual components and defects and link to the original source. Search and filter pages are navigation tools, not separate technical articles.
Corrections and updates
Please contact us if you find an error. Tell us which page and statement are concerned and, where possible, include a reliable supporting source. We check proposed corrections against the entry and its references. Review dates change after substantive checking or correction, not simply because a page has been rebuilt.
Questions about structural integrity, confined spaces, unknown hazards or significant changes to a drainage system need competent assessment for the actual situation. Immediate hazards should be dealt with under the relevant site emergency arrangements.
