Drain Survey Service enquiry

Our drain survey service establishes the accessible drainage condition and, where required, its route. A CCTV investigation of one fault is different from a measured drainage plan, so the method depends on the information required.

Inspection and tracing

Internal footage and surface tracing answer different questions about the same drainage run.

Advice based on what was found

A useful survey identifies both the observed defect and any limits on the conclusion drawn.

CCTV inspection and tracing

CCTV records the inside of a pipe, while suitable tracing can relate its position to the surface. Standing water and deposits may require cleaning before the wall can be assessed. A restricted or unreached length must remain visible in the findings, so missing evidence is not confused with an absence of defects.

Advice based on the survey findings

Observed damage is located and related to the problem being investigated. Repairs are recommended only where the evidence supports them, and further inspection is noted when the first survey leaves an important question unresolved. A survey does not commit the customer to a repair.

Survey detail for repairs and property checks

A repair location, maintenance check and property transaction do not all need the same level of survey detail. The report shows which runs and measurements were included and marks unconfirmed routes or inaccessible lengths clearly.

Drain Survey Service: common questions

Can I request a survey without knowing the pipe route?

We can investigate an unfamiliar route, with tracing included where appropriate to the survey purpose.

Will every drain at the property be included?

Coverage follows the agreed survey and accessible network. Uninspected lengths remain identified.

Can an existing report be reviewed first?

Earlier findings can inform the next investigation, provided their coverage and limitations are understood.

Will a condition survey include precise levels?

Only when the agreed survey includes the necessary measurements.

Does commissioning a survey authorise repairs automatically?

No. The findings are reported first and any repair work is agreed separately.
