Drain Repair enquiry

Drain repair addresses pipe defects that unblocking alone cannot resolve. We investigate the damaged run and explain whether a local patch, a longer liner or excavation is appropriate. A drain that flows again after clearance can still have cracks, displaced joints or other structural damage.

Repair method

The defect and surrounding pipe condition determine whether an internal repair or excavation is appropriate.

Repair length

The repaired section should extend onto suitable pipe and remain distinct from other drainage not included in the work.

Choosing the repair from the defect

A narrow crack in an otherwise suitable run is different from a collapsed or badly displaced section. Internal repairs need a usable bore and suitable geometry. Excavation allows damaged pipe to be replaced or realigned, and some jobs combine a short replacement with lining elsewhere.

Repairing the necessary section

We assess adjacent pipework so the repair ends in suitable material. Other visible defects outside the immediate repair are noted, along with any further investigation needed. A local repair does not renew the rest of the drainage system.

Checks before the drain returns to use

The completion check must match the repair carried out. A lined section needs inspection of its finish and affected connections, while a replacement also needs suitable support and levels. Any separate testing is identified so a simple flow check is not overstated as proof of complete condition.

Drain Repair: common questions

Is drain repair the same as unblocking?

Clearance removes an obstruction. Repair addresses damage to the pipe or a connection.

Can every damaged drain be relined?

Lining needs suitable geometry and access. Severe damage or poor alignment can require another method.

What if damage extends beyond the first defect?

Additional findings are discussed and any change to the proposed work is agreed before proceeding.

Can cleaning reveal a larger repair need?

Yes. Deposits may hide defects that only become visible once the pipe is prepared.

Does replacing one section renew the whole drain?

No. The repaired section has defined limits and surrounding pipework retains its own condition.
