Pipe replacement and reinstatement
The new section needs suitable connections and support, with its levels checked against the intended drainage route. The reinstatement area and any temporary access restrictions are set out before the excavation is opened. A short excavation may be combined with lining elsewhere if the survey supports that approach.
Checking the pipe and ground during excavation
The exposed trench allows pipe condition, connections and supporting ground to be examined more directly. If excavation reveals wider pipe damage or ground movement, the repair length may need to change. Installing the new pipe does not by itself resolve an adjacent void or unstable ground.
